APPOINTMENT OF FIELD PEDOLOGIST Applications are invited for appointment to a position as Field Pedologist initially at the Division’s Headquarters in Adelaide. The appointee will be required to undertake surveys and field studies of Australian soils. This work is supported by associated laboratory studies in soil chemistry, minera ogy, and physics, and provides opportunities for both applied and funedamental research in soil classifi ation, genesis, and cartography. The results of this work are expected to relate land development activities involving alteration and intensification of land use with crop, pasture, and animal production, and irrigation studies. QUALIFICATIONS: University honours degree in Science or Agricultural Science, with some post-graduate research experience as a pedologist or equivalent qualifications. SALARY: Dependent on qualifications and experience, commencing salary will be determined within the range of Research Officer, £A.1287-£A.1912 p.a. NOTE: The above salaries apply to a male appointee. Female salaries are £l6O p.a. less than the corresponding male rate. Fares to Australia (including those of wife and family) will be paid in the case of an overseas appointee. The appointment will be conditional on a satisfactory medical examination, and the successful applicant may be asked to serve for an initial probationary period of up to 12 months before being confirmed in his appointment as an officer of the Organisation.
