COURSE FOR TRAFFIC OFFICERS

General instruction, both theoretical and practical, was given to eight traffic officers from all parts of New Zealand in the fifth course for officers of the Transport Department which finished in Christchurch yesterday. A considerable amount of time was given tp lectures and practical instruction by persons outside the department. Christchurch is the recognised training centre for officers of the department, and it is expected that it will remain so. There has been no indication that the courses, which are supervised by the senior traffic officer in the district <Mr A. J. Tait), will be stopped. Each course lasts three weeks. Six to eight officers are expected to attend the next, which will begin in a fortnight. All men joining the department will be put through a course at some time.
