ARBITRATION COURT
PROCEDURE DURING JUDGE’S ABSENCE UNIONS TO PRESS FOR APPOINTMENT • e (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 9. Representatives of the Federation of Labour and the Employers' Federation discussed today the settlement of disputes while the Judge of the Arbitration Court is on leave, without reaching a decision. Later the president of the Federation of Labour (Mr F. P. Walsh) said that his federation would press the Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan) to appoint a Judge. If it did not receive a satisfactory reply,’ it would consult its affiliated unions on further action. Last month the Federation of Labour said that its affiliated unions were not willing to accept fixtures for hearing by the Courts additional Judge (Judge Stilwell), acting in the absence'of Mr Justice Tyndall.
