Tory Channel Whaling
A whaling party operating from Tory Channel has killed 101 whales so far this season. Four kills on Friday and two on Saturday brought the total to 99 at the end of June, compared with 89 at the same time last year. There were two further kills on Tuesday. The Hauraki Whaling Company, which began to work from Whangaparapara Harbour, Great Barrier Island recently, has caught six whales.
