KITCHENER DESTROYED
MISHAP DURING SCHOOL AT TRENTHAM “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. Julv 5. Kitchener, which would have been one of the fancied runners in the Mariri Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Trentham on Saturday, was destroyed this afternoon.
After jumping the eighth obstacle of a scheduled 10-fence school at Trentham this morning. Kitchener was pulled up He was very lame, and after inspection it was suspected that he had fractured an elbow. His condition deteriorated and after a veterinary examination this afternoon he was destroyed. Kitchener, a seven-year-old brown geftiing by Joviality from Miss Kitchen, had recorded a first and a second at his last two attempts. He was trained at Matamata by his owner, Mr R. F. Cole.
