POTATOES
Sir, —When shopping in a greengrocer’s this morning, I saw another : customer give a start when charged lid per lb for potatoes. She was I speechless when a large parsnip cost • her 9d. I wonder how many conI sumers realise that the former price ! works out at £lO2 Os 7d a ton. How i can pensioners possibly pay such a j price? I recently received a letter I from Glasgow in which the writer • complained because she had to pay 1 4?d per lb or £4O a ton for potatoes. !It is lime the supply and demand ' racket was knocked on the head, and it is time consumers combined and I took matters into their own hands.— Yours, etc..
