N.Z. MEAT FOR GERMANY
SHIPMENTS UNDER AGREEMENT
Under the New Zealand-Western Germany trade arrangement, Germany undertook that when it was necessary to import meat to supplement domestic supplies, New Zealand would be included in the countries from which supplies would be admitted under import licence. Some shipments of frozen meat have been successfully placed under this arrangement in recent months.
The Trade Commissioner in London has been asked to negotiate with the Western German authorities to provide a quota for the import of bloodmeal from New Zealand. West Germany imports bloodmeal mainly from the Argentine for stockfood. New Zealand exporters can produce bloodmeal complying with the German specifications and a number is interested in developing this market.
