“FLEECE OF YEAR’’ COMPETITION
WINNING ENTRY FROM OTAGO
(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, July 4
Fifty-eight entries were received for the “Fleece of the Year” competition held under the auspices of the Massey College Wool Association. The winner was a medium Merino fleece entered by Wright Stephenson and Company (Dunedin), shorn on the estate of the late H. Gibson.
The judge, Mr G. G. Anderson, chief appraiser of the New Zealand Wool Commission, praised the quality of all exhibits.
Class competitions resulted:— Merino: Wright Stephenson and Company (Dunedin), estate H. Gibson, 1 and 2. Wright Stephenson and Company (Dunedin), estate A. Phillips. 3. Halfbred or Corriedale: National Mortgage and Agency Company (Christchurch), Hood Brothers, 1; Dalgety and Company (Dunedin), J. C. McArthur, and Otago Farmers* Co-op. (Dunedin), A. J. Mathias, equal 2. Crossbred: Southland Farmers’ Co-op. (Invercargill), E. F. King, 1; Southland Farmers’ Co-op. (Invercargill, P. A. Windle, 2; Murray Roberts and Company (Napier), K. McLean, 3.
