WINTER CRICKET COACHING

A winter coaching scheme is to be inaugurated by the Otago Cricket Association some time next month. Players taking part in the courses will receive about 10 weeks’ training before the cricket season commences. Country delegates and members of the association’s management committee met recently to discuss the proposal. It was further suggested that the association should consider acquiring

a permanent hall to be used for winter coaching. Mr L. D. Smith, for the coaching committee, said the hall could also be used by other sports bodies. The Rev. T. M. C. Hay reported that an application had been lodged with the New Zealand Cricket Council for the formation of a minor association in Central Otago. A decision was expected soon, he said. The new association would be called the Central Otago Cricket Association. Its cap would be of gold, with blue lettering.
