Butter Subsidy Cut In Australia

Australian butter prices will rise at least ljd per lb as the result of subsidy reductions announced in Canberra yesterday. Cheese will be at least Id per lb dearer. The official price fdr butter at present is 4s 6d per lb. The Minister of Primary Industries (Mr William McMahon) said yesterday that the Government had decided to decrease the butted subsidy by £1,000.000, to £13,500,000 in the coming financial year.
This follows a report on production costs by a special investigation committee.
