Retiring President Honoured
A new office of immediate past-president l for the retiring president (Mr C. E. Hov)* was approved at a special general meet»,eld before the annual meeting of : the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting' Club last night. Mr Hoy was later appointed a life member. Mr Hoy was standing for no other office said Mr R. W. Saunders when moving the motion. The club could ill-afford to lose his services after four years as presi-1 dent, and he was certain all members 1 would approve the suggestion. Mr Saunders’s remarks were endorsed by Messrs A. L. Matson, W. M. Olliver and H. W Drewery.
Mr Olliver, who had been vice-president I for four years, was elected president. Other officers elected were: vice-presi-dent. Mr J. K. Davidson; stewards Messrs 1 G. W. Blaxall, R. E. Booker, H. E. Cook/ D F. Glanville. D McCormick, J. Palmer. * R. Powell. J. W. Rainey. H. P. Rennie. R. W. Saunders. R. Twyneham. E. T. Me- 1 Dermott. R. A Witbrock. C. E. Evans, Dr. A. M. Hartnell: committee, Messrs Blaxall, Booker, Cook, Glanville. McCormick. 1 A. L. Matson, Palmer. Powell, E. Rutherford.
Lady McKenzie, and Messrs Hov. E. F Nicoll and C. Lange were elected life members.
