AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL
PROPOSED RATE TO BE RECONSIDERED
The Akaroa Borough Council wiR hold a special meeting on Thursday night to reconsider its notice of motion to strike a consolidated rate of lOd, which would be a reduction of on last year’s rate. On Friday, the chairman of the New Zealand Municipal Association (Mr N. H. Moss) and its'representative on the National Roads Board, telephoned from Wellington to tell the Town Clerk (Mr L. G. F.ade) that the board was concerned at the borough’s action
It is understood the board, which recently grafrted the council £7009 by way of free grant for road sealing after the council had put up a case of hardship, now wants to know how the council could reduce its rates.
