MILITARY TALKS IN SINGAPORE
N.Z. DELEGATION RETURNS
Senior New Zealand service officers who have been attending a military staff planners’ conference of the South-east Asia Treaty Organisation in Singapore returned to Christchurch by air from Sydney yesterday. They were dressed in civilian clothes and were under instruction to make no comment on their talks and activities to representatives of newspapers. The delegation was led by Lieu-tenant-Colonel R. B. Dawson, director of plans at Army headquarters. Other members were Wing Commander B. V. le Pine, director of air staff policy and plans, Air Force Headquarters, Lieutenant-Commander W. R. Williams, deputy-director of plans, Navy Office, and Major S. R. Jensen, director of military intelligence. Army Headquarters.
The officers were met at Harewood by the commander of Southern Military District (Brigadier J. T. Burrows) and travelled to Wellington last evening.
