OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. June 29. The weather forecast issued at 9 p.m by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue is:— Situation:— A deep, extensive, complex depression. with centres located just southwest and south-east of the South Island is moving rather slowly eastwards. Forecast:—

Canterbury. North-west winds, fresh at times, but probably decreasing later in the day; heavy showers or thunderstorms about the Alps; elsewhere weather mostly cloudy, but some scattered showers spreading eastwards to the coasts occasionally; moderate temperatures. Outlook: variable skies. probably coastal showers.

Westland and Buller.—Moderate to fresh north-west winds, with cloudy skies and showers or thunderstorms, heavy at times; moderate temperatures, Outlook: passing showers.

Nelson.—Mainly moderate northerly winds, but fresh to strong westerlies outside Tasman Bay; heavy showers about the western ranges; scattered showers elsewhere; moderate temperatures. Outlook: showers about the ranges, weather otherwise fair to cloudy.

Marlborough.—North-west winds fresh to strong in exposed areas; showers about the sounds and the western ranges; elsewhere variable skies and a few passing showers; moderate temperatures.
