TE MATA HANDICAP TO THE VANDAL

The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s meeting concluded on the Hastings racecourse yesterday. The weather was fine and the track heavy. There was a good attendance.

The double was won by The Vandal and King of Joy, which returned a dividend of £lO 18s 6d for £l.

The totalisator handled £49,584, compared with £55,083 for the second day (a Saturday) last year, and £102.267 for the meeting, compared with £120,612 last year. The judicial committee met to consider a charge brought against V. R. Coley, rider of Simon’s Pride, in the Raukawa Handicap. Coley was found guilty of careless riding, in that he did not check his mount, thus causing slight interference to Amber Inkpot (V. J. Sellars) and Sarabah (W. L. Aitken). The committee find him £5.
