Artificial Breeding Of Sheep
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. June 29. Four hundred scientists from all over the world at the third International Congress on Animal Reproduction. held in Cambridge, are discussing the deep freezing of semen. Dr. H. O. Dunn, of the New York Artificial Breeders’ Co-operative, said yesterday that it was doubtful if freezing semen was the way of obtaining maximum output from top quality sires. There was considerable wastage during processing. Dr. Dunn said that indefinite storage of frozen semen might not be possible at the temperatures now used. They would have to be much lower. A Russian delegate. Professor M. P. I Kuznetsov, said that the artificial inI semination of sheep had been pracI tised in Russia for 30 years.
