Members expressed appreciation of the help offered, and Crs. W. A Habgo°d G. S. Simpson, T. F. Carter and the chairman (Cr. E. J. Stalker) were appointed a committee to confer with Mr Bonish on the site. v Concerning the need for improved lighting on the Lincoln-Tai Tapu boundary road, the Paparua Countv Council inquired whether, in view of the development taking place on both sides of the road, the Springs County Council would agree to paying a half share of the cost. Two additional lights were suggested. .The matter had been discussed previously. said the chairman, but had been deferred in view of the possibility of amalgamation. He thought the two councils should discuss the overall position of Lincoln township in respect to its requirements and rating. The matter of lights could be considered at the same time. Expressing the view that the possibility of amalgamation seemed less “ kely than had been the case earlier. \ said there was no ooubt that Springs county was providing those ratepayers to Paparua county who were living in the Lincoln area with service for which no return was received. On his motion it was agreed to have a discussion with the Paparua council. The department could not agree to a request from the council for a public level crossing at Leinster terrace, Lincoln, stated a letter from the Railways Department. It was considered that the formed town belt and public level crossing at Edward street provided adequate access for property owners on the south side of the line m Town belt and Leinster terrace. The council decided to take the matter up with the Minister of Railways (Mr J. K. McAlpine). The councils metal crusher had been put into operation, reported the works overseer, and was able to produce 100 cubic yards of mixed screened and crushed metal a day.
