TITO-SOVIET RELATIONS

“Past Mistakes Forgotten” LONDON. June 21. President Tito of Jugoslavia said today that “all past mistakes” between Russia and his country are now “forgotten.’’ Moscow Radio reports. The Jugoslav leader made the statement on his arrival in Kiev, in the Ukraine, on his way back to Yugoslavia a f ter his three-weeks’ State visit to the Soviet Union. Yesterday. Marshal Tito signed a declaration in which he pledged himself to strengthen bonds with Russia on the basis of equality and freewill.

Marshal Tito told citizens of Kiev who gathered at the railway station: “There is now no difference between the Soviet and Jugoslav peoples. Both are now marching forward to a better future, towards socialism.”

He said that the most important achievement in his talks with the Soviet leaders was that the two countries have discarded everything that was wrong in their mutual relations, the radio reports.

“We know that the blame for the wrongs cannot be placed on the Russian people, or on the shoulders of the Jugoslav people," said Marshal Tito. “We have come to the Soviet Union to put the final seal to the work started a year ago—to re-establish friendly and brotherly relations between our two countries.”

Marshal Tito then said one of the tasks was for the two countries to consolidate their friendship and to work jointly for the consolidation of world peace.

The Jugoslav leader’s speech was repeatedly interrupted by the cheers of the crowd. Moscow Radio said.
