Mr F. M. Perkins, chief clerk at the Addington railway workshops, has retired after 40 years’ service in the department. Most of this was spent in Christchurch, in the mechanical and locomotive clerical branches. Mr Perkins was chief clerk at Addington for two years. Before that, he was chief clerk at the District Mechanical Engineer’s office. A presentation was made to him yesterday afternoon. Misses G. M. Cropp, D. Y. Jarman, and J. L. Sutherland and Mr R.
