COUNTRY WOMEN’S DRAMA GROUPS
SHEFFIELD TEAM WINS AREA FESTIVAL
The Sheffield Country Women's Institute drama group was judged as the best group in the Canterbury federation when the area drama festival was held in St. Andrew’s Church hall last evening. The judge was Mr Frank Newman.
The other two groups competing in the festival were the Kaiapoi and Lauriston institute teams.
The Sheffield group’s play, “The Queen’s Ring,” was the best balanced, and setting and production were good, said Mr Newman.
Should the Sheffield team be placed as one of the three highest in the Dominion, it will take part in the Dominion drama festival later this year.
