ROYAL VISIT TO SWEDEN

Queen At Olympic Horse Sports

(Rec. 11 p.m.) STOCKHOLM. June 12. The Queen Is expected to watch her horse Countryman 111 competing in the dressage test today at the Olympic Equestrian Games. The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Swedish naval base at Harsfjarden. on the Baltic Sea coast outside Stockholm. Highlight of the day’s engagements is-a concert to be given by the 8.8. C. Symphony Orchestra, witn Sir Malcolm Sargent as conductor. The Queen and the Duke and the King and Queen of Sweden will be present, with Princess Margaret and other members of the British and Swedish Royal Families. This concert is one of the most important events of the Stockholm Music Festival being held from June 3 to June 14. The Queen and the Duke have a busy month ahead on their return. The Queen’s return by air instead of in the Royal yacht will enable her to be at Windsor Castle in time for engagements. both official and private, during Royal Ascot week. Guests of the Queen and the Duke will be arriving at Windsor during the week. The Queen’s first official engagement \of the week will be a Garter service at St. George’s Chapel on June 18. when she will install new knights of the Order, including Sir Anthony Eden and Earl Attlee. The Royal Ascot race meeting will open next day”, and the Queen and Duke will drive to the racecourse.

Other engagements during Ascot week include a garden party given by the officers of the 3rd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards, which will form part of the regiment’s tercentenary celebrations, and an official dinner in Waterloo Chamber on the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. The Court is expected to return to Buckingham Palace on June 25. That afternoon the Queen and the Duke intend to visit Lord’s to see part of the fourth day's play in the second test match.

Uganda in Olympic Games.—Uganda today became the 75th country to accept the organising committee’s invitation to compete at the Melbourne Olympic Games in November. The Uganda, team will consist of five competitors and an official.—Melbourne. June 12.
