RETIREMENT FROM HARBOUR BOARD
MR F. E. SUTTON NOT TO SEEK RE-ELECTION
Mr F. E. Sutton, member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board for the Lyttelton and Banks Peninsula districts, has announced that he will not seek re-election, and that he will retire from public life. In November, when his present term of office will expire. Mr Sutton will have served 27| years, including two terms of two years as chairman, on the board. During that time, he has not missed a meeting. He was chairman last year—possibly the most important year in tfie history of the board, when Parliament passed legislation making possible major extensions to the harbour.
Mr Sutton was also Mayor of Lyttelton for 15 years, and served for four years as a councillor. He cannot recall missing a meeting of the council.
