Crushed When Tank
‘ Overturns
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 11. A young Regular Force officer. Lieutenant Adrian C. Queree, son of the Vice-Chief of the General Staff. Brigadier R. C. Queree, of Wellington, was killed five miles nortn of Waiouru Camp last night while leading a troop of tanks manned by compulsory military trainees in an elementary night movement. Lieutenant Queree was in the turret of the tank, a Valentine, when it overturned on the bank of the Wangehu
river, in the camp’s training area. I He was killed instantly, being crushed beneath the tank. The other occupants of the tank suffered shock and slight abrasions. Queree, aged 23. single, graduated from the Royal Military College of Australia. Duntroon, in December. 1954. He was posted to the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps, and had been at Waiouru Armoured The funeral, with full military honours, will take place in Wellington tomorrow.
