British Troops In Fiji
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SUVA, June 11. British troops have arrived in Fiji on their way to “take part in exercises in the South Pacific,” Colonel T. C. Campbell, commander of the Fiji Military Forces, said today. He said that 250 British troops from various units would be in Fiji when the troopship Devonshire arrived with the Ist Battalion. Fiji Regiment, returning from Malaya on June 16 or 18. and would embark in the Devonshire for Christmas Island on June 19. It is believed that the troops are being sent to Christmas Island for hydrogen bomb tests next year.
