ALTERED EXCHANGE RATES Sterling lost ground to most European currencies, but more heavily to the Canadian currency last week. Its only recorded gain was against the U.S. dollar. Altered telegraphic transfer exchange rates, as advised yesterday by the Bank of New South Wales, are as follows: New Zealand on New York: buying. 2.7995 dollars to £N.Z. (compared with 2.7970 dollars on June 4); selling, 2.7678 dollars (2.7653). Montreal: 2.7633 dollars (2.7708).; 2.7277 dollars (2.7351). Belgium 1 141.17 francs (141.37); 136.70 (136.90). Denmark: 19.60 kroner (19.64); 18.92 kroner (18.96). France: 989 francs (991); 961 francs (963). Netherlands: 10.74 guilders (10.75); 10.48 guilders (10.50). Sweden: 14.59 kroner (14.61); 14.25 kroner (14.27) Switzerland: 12.23 francs (12.26); 11.99 francs (12.01). Western Germany: 1170 marks (11.72); 11.46 marks (11.48). Italy--1754 lire (1757); 1719 lire (1722).
