N.Z. TEST TEAM CHOSEN
GOLF
MATCH AGAINST AUSTRALIA “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, June 11.
R. J. Charles (Masterton), S. G Jones (Hastings), B. M. Silk (Wanganui), and D. L. -Woon (Hamilton) have been chosen as the New Zealand team to play Australia in an international golf test at Wanganui on September 28 and 29.
J. D. Durry (Wellington) is the reserve, with Mr A. J. Scouler (Dunedin) as non-playing captain.
The team was announced at a meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association Council.
The team is experienced, with a good blend of youth in R. J. Charles. Charles, the 1954 open champion, has not before represented New Zealand. Jones, Silk, and Woon have represented New Zealand in both Australia and Britain.
The ultimate playing order for the team will be left to the non-playing captain to decide.
