(New Zealand Press Association)
TE KUITI, June 8. Two finals were decided on the concluding day of the North Island sheepdog championship trials at Te Kuiti today. The straight huntawa” event was won by E. H. Pratt, of Tauma unui, who gained 971 points with his dog Rose. The runner-up was R. O’Connor, oi Hastings with Bounce. He scored 97 points. In the other final, the s?ort head and yard, G. Brennan, of Feilding. was the winner with his dog Gay, gaining 971 points. The runner-up was D. Morrison, of Ormondville, who gained 96 points with Gyp.
Conait-ons generally today were very difficult, but when the sheep were handled correctly, the dogs had little trouble. All the leading dogs in both events performed creditably. Probably the best performance of the day was giver, by Brennan with Gay in the short head and yard. This display was almost perfect.
