LIEUTENANT H. T. POOL, R.N.Z.R., who will leave by air for the United Kingdom early next week to become executive officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Endeavour and to stand by the ship during her refit. The Endeavour, the former John Biscoe, is to take Sir Edmund Hillary and his party to the Antarctic at the end of the year. A chief officer in the Union Steam Ship Company, Lieutenant Pool joined the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve in 1952. He was born in Christchurch and educated at Christchurch Boys’ High School.
