“THANKS FOR THE MEMORY”
VAUDEVILLE SHOW THIS MONTH The Australian comedian, George Wallace, has received more than 150 invitations to a “home cooked meal on Sunday,’’ since he arrived in New Zealand on a Dominion tour six weeks ago. But because his doctor has prescribed a strict diet he has been ab. j to accept only four of the invitations, which have been limited to two courses. The invitations have come from well-wishers and friends who remember him from his old Fuller’s Theatre circuit days. George Wallace is back in New Zealand in Harry Wrenjs “Thanks for the Memory,” a vaudeville show
which brings together all the names Fuller’s made famous years ago. “Thanks for the Memory” will be in Christchurch from June 18. Other old-timers in the show include Jim Gerald, Queenie Paul, Nellie Kolle, Morrie Barling. Millie Hansen and Jandy, the French musical clown.
Both Nellie Kolle and Millie Hansen have relatives and friends in Christchurch. They are undecided which aunt or cousin they will stay with. “Thanks for the Memory” is not wholly an old-timers’ show. It has a number of popular modern artists, including George Nichole, brother of Joy Nichols.
