NO. 2 SQUADRON, R.N.Z.A.F.
REUNION HELD AT NELSON
Several former members of the No. 2 Squadron, R.N.Z.A.F., in Canterbury attended a reunion held in Nelson this week. The squadron was formed in Nelson in 1941, and in reconnaissance work over Cook strait and the Tasman sea, its aircraft flew more than 900,000 miles.
Mr J. J. Busch, general manager of New Zealand National Airways Corporation, who was the squadron’s first commander, presided over the gathering. Wing Commander R. J. Sinclair, of Pahiatua, a former commanding officer of the Nelson station, also attended.
The toast to the squadron was proposed by Mr Noel Savage, Dominion vice-presideht of the Air Force Association. and responded to by the chairman. Lieutenant-Colonel A. C. L. Chudleigh proposed the toast of the R.N.Z.A.F. and R.A.F., and Squadron Leader D. S. Hamilton, formerly of Christchurch and now stationed at Waipukarau, replied. A parade was held and a wreath laid on the Nelson War Memorial.
