ROYAL VISIT TO SWEDEN
Preparations In Stockholm
(Rec. 10.30 p.m.) STOCKHOLM, June 7.
The Royal route through Stockholm bustled with activity today as the Royal yacht Britannia sailed north through the Baltic bringing Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh on the last stage of their journey. Workmen have been retarring roads, erecting crush barriers and building stands on the route along which the Roval couple will drive when they arrive tomorrow for a three-day State visit.
Flags and decorations are appearing in streets and windows. Long red, white and blue banners have been hung across the main shopping streets accompanied by others in the Swedish colours—blue and yellow. They bear medallions with the initials E.R. surmounted by a gold crown.
A message from Copenhagen said that the Queen stood on the quarterdeck of the Royal yacht Britannia while Danish warships fired a 21-gun salute in her honour when the Royal yacht passed north of Anhold Island in the Kattegat on the way to Stockholm.
