(1) On the way to a try. P. B. Vincent, the South Island captain, making one of his characteristic mid-field breaks. This led to a try by J. R. Watt after M. J. Dixon (left) had moved infield and taken a pass from Vincent. (2) A. E. G. Elsom, right wing three-quarters for the New Zealand side, chases the ball with W. R. Archer and Watt (right) in pursuit. (3) W. C. Wilson, South Island full-back, who played an outstanding game, takes the ball as J. B. Buxton moves in to tackle. (4) R. A. Jarden, New Zealand left wing three-quarters, centre-kicks as G. Anderson comes across to intercept.
