LYTTELTON CARGO STATISTICS
Cargo handled at Lyttelton last month was 132.951 tons, compared with 116.462 tons in May last year. Imports were 93,319 tons <88.748 tons last year) and exports, 39.632 tons (27,714
tons). From October, the beginning of the board’s financial year, to May, 929.891 tons were handled, compared with 827.629 tons in the comparable period of the previous year. During last month. 102 trading vessels. with a total net register tonnage of 242,749. used the port, compared with 93 ships of a tonnage of 212.650 in May last year.
