AGE BENEFIT
Sir, —In your issue of May 30, in a reply to “Sixty-eight, Still Working,” the Registrar of Social Security states: “The department requires to know if the money has been spent, reinvested or otherwise disposed .of in order to assess the benefit payable.” Does this mean that if any portion of the allowable £lOOO is spent, the beneficiary is going to suffer a reduction in his pension? The ambiguous statement of the registrar raises the point.—Yours, etc., SUPER ANN.
May 31, 1956. [“My reply does not in any way suggest that the benefit would be reduced,” said the Registrar of Social Security (Mr W. A. McGregor) when this letter was referred to him. “Should the inquirer desire any further information would he please call and see me.”]
