CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRESIDENT
MR C. A. WOODARD APPOINTED
BOSTON. June 4.
Mr Clifford A. Woodard, of Cambridge, Mass., was today named President of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ. Scientist, in Boston. Mr Woodard’s appointment was announced by the Christian Science board of directors at the annual meeting of the denomination attended by thousands of Christian Scientists from many parts of the world. The term of office is for one year.
An authorised teacher and practitioner of Christian Science, Mr Woodard holds degrees from Harvard College, Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and Harvard Law School. A native of Warren, Pennsylvania. he became interested in Christian Science through a healing received as a boy. He joined the mother church in 1908, and has been active in various capacities in the Christian Science movement for many years.
