N.Z. WOMAN ILL IN CANADA
' POSSIBLE RETURN HOME NEXT MONTH Mrs Joan Worthington, a young New Zealand mother* reported to have been told by doctors in Canada that she has not long to live, is still undergoing special treatment in Toronto. Her father, Mr J. Muirhead, stationmaster at Springfield, said yesterday that it was not yet known when she would return to New Zealand. Mrs Worthington, who is 27, met her husband, an Englishman, when she was on her way from New Zealand on an overseas working holiday two years ago. She had a brain tumour ' removed at Christmas. Mr Muirhead said that, according to a letter received yesterday, his daughter’s condition was good. He thought she might be returning next month, but he did not know whether it would be by air or sea transport. He would not know details of her health until then, but he had hopes that the treatment she was undergoing would be successful. He thought the newspaper reports might have over-estimated the seriousness o'f her condition, said Mr Muirhead.
