INTERNATIONAL CONTEST IN AUSTRALIA "The Press’ Special Service WELLINGTON, June 5. A New Zealand surf li’e-saving team will be sent to a surf carnival in Australia at the time of the Olympic Games if sufficient funds can be raised in time. This was decided at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association held in Wellington last weekend. During the meeting a cable message was received from Australia offering to pay £5OO towards the cost of sending a team from the Dominion to the carnival. ' Teams have been invited to the carnival from South Africa, Ceylon. Honolulu and New Zealand and as it is to be held simultaneously with the Games such an unprecedented contest would reap for the movement world-wide publicity. The venue for the carnival is Torquay, south of Melbourne, and it is to be held on November 25.
