Russia Bars Flight By B.E.A.
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 3. The Russian authorities have refused permission for British European Airways to fly a Vickers Viscount turbo-prop airliner t© Moscow. No reason has been given to B.E.A. for the refusal which was communicated through the British Foreign Office. This would have been the first visit of a British civil aircraft to Russia since the war.
The purpose was to carry the director-general of the British Travel and Holidays Association (Mr J. G. Bridges), and members of the Association of British Travel Agents, who have befcn officially invited to Russia to continue the discussions with Intourist (the Russian travel agency) which began in Britain last year on arrangements for building up reciprocal travel between the two countries.
