50FT FALL FROM BUILDING MAN FRACTURES LEG 4 (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 5. A plasterer working above the Bank of New Zealand in Queen street, Auckland, had a remarkable escape from death late this morning when he fell from a swinging stay to the sloping roof of the bank 50 to 60ft below. He is Mr E. Fairweather, of East Tamaki road, Papatoetoe. He suffered a compound fracture o.f the right leg, and was admitted to Middlemore Public Hospital. His condition is reported as fairly satisfactory. Mr Fairweather was working on the wall of Milne and Choyce’s premises, which tower above the bank, when the accident occurred. POWER-CYCLIST INJURED James Ivan Nicholas Bolitho, of 19 Pascoe avenue, St. Albans, suffered facial injuries when the power-cycle he was riding collided with a car at the corner of Pages and Ottawa roads about 5.30 p.m. yesterday. He was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by a St. John ambulance and later ' transferred to the Burwood Hospital and admitted. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
