WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

Le Ben's Bay.—Mrs R. G. Fraser presided over the monthly meeting of the Le Bon’s Bay Country Women’s institute. The motto was “One thought on the kerb is worth two in the hospital.’’ Mrs Fraser gave a repprt of the annual meeting of the Canterbury federation. The roll call was “What I thought of the group listening.’ Mrs V. Crotty judged the competitions.

Kaiapoi.—Remits to be presented at the Country Women’s Institute conference in June were discussed at the Mav meeting of the Kaiapoi institute. Mrs Pearce presided in the absence of Mrs Rennie (president). Mrs Hyde gave a comprehensive report on the North Canterbury federation meeting. Mrs Pearce congratulated Mrs Clemette on the interesting presidential letter, which was read Mrs Clemette presented Mrs Candy with a good service badge, and spoke of the good work she had done. Nurse Forrester, the district nurse, spoke on the work of the Nurse Maude Association
