VISIT TO BRITAIN NEXT YEAR The Director of Reserves <Mr H. G. Gilpin) will be the delegate of the Christchurch City Council to the first international conferenee of directors and superintendents of parks in Lon-
don from May-17 to Mav 30 next year. After the conference Mr Gilpin will . visit other parts of the United Kingdom to obtain information on parks and gardens in cities comparable with Christchurch. No itineraiy has beea prepared yet. The council last October approved the^general principle of aend.ng delegates from New Zealand when it w»s asked by the Institute of Parks Ad- . ministration to give favourable consideration to the sending of a dele cate to the congress or to contributinc to sending one or more delegates to represent the Dominion. Information received by the councti was that neither of the cities of Dunedin and Irrvercarztil was sending a delegate and it was unlikely that the ’ smaller local bodies would be interested. T ’
