BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER
NATIONAL TITLES AT INVERCARGILL The venue of the 1956 New Zealand amateur billiards championship and the New Zealand amateur snooker championship will be Invercargill. Both fixtures will be .played under the two-life system rule. The billiards heats will be of two hours and the final will be of four hours, with two sessions. The snooker heats will be three frames out of five and the final will be four frames out of seven. Alan Twohill, of Greymouth, holder of the billiards title, will defend it. The dates are:— Billiards, August 20 to 25; and snooker August 27 to September 1. Canterbury Events The Canterbury Amateur Billiards Association has received excellent support from the affiliated clubs for the billiards championship and the junior snooker championship. For the billiards championship, there are 26 nominations and for the junior snooker, 36. The first round of the billiards, 70 games, will be played today.
