AIR. MISSION TO AMERICA
N.Z. PARTY RETURNS TO OHAKEA (Neu. Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 3. “ ‘Operation Handclasp lII* was a complete success, and we achieved all we set out to do.” said Air ViceMarshal C. E. Kay. on his arrival at Ohakea after a three-week goodwill mission in the United States. The Royal New’ Zealand Air Force party, led by Air Vice-Marshal Kay, visited a number of Air Force bases in America. The party flew in a Hastings of No. 40 Transport Squadron, and covered 17.000 miles. The captain of the aircraft. Squadron Leader K. B. Smith, described the trip as uneventful. Air Vice-Marshal Kay said the Hastings was on display at Bolling Air Force Base for two days, and attracted 200.000 servicemen and civilians. All accommodation for the party had been of the highest standard, and had been at no cost to the party or the New Zealand Government, he said.
