RISE CONTINUES
Storage in the South Island’s hydroelectric lakes continued the slight upward trend yesterday with an increase of 590,000 units from the previous reading. At 9 a.m. the storage was 76860.000 <jnits, compared with 75 090 000 units at 9 a.m. on Saturdav. Although there had been some rain at Waipori end Coleridge, the assistant district engineer of the State Hydroelectric Department (Mr E. E. James) reported that the weather in the district yesterday was calm and overcast. There had also been some drizzle in other parts of the catchment area.
