ASSOCIATION OF DIABETICS
NEW BODY FORMED IN CHRISTCHURCH
An association to help diabetics was established at a meeting in Christchurch last week. It will be known as the Diabetic Association. New Zealand branch, Christchurch division, and will be affiliated with the British Diabetic Association, of London, which was started 20 years ago by H. G. Wells with a membership of 15. Today it has about 20.000 members. About 30 sufferers from diabetes and a number of others interested in the disease attended the which was convened by Mr C. M. Sheppard. The decision to form an association was unanimous.
Officers elected were:—President. Mr Sheppard; vice-presidents. Mr P. J. Nash and Mr E. W. Cowey; secretary and treasurer, Mr Frank Drozdowski; committee. Medames M. Thompson and J. H. Templeton and Messrs Harold Hartley and J. W. Richards. It is proposed that a medical board should be set up to act in an advisory capacity to the association. Meetings of the new grouo will be held quarterly.
