International Air Races Cancelled
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON. June 2. The Royal Aero Club in London today announced the cancellation of the international air races, planned to take place in September in connexion with the city of Johannesburgh’s seventieth anniversary celebrations. The aero club, which was making the arrangements, said it had received information from the aero club of South Africa that the Johannesburg Festival Committee was unable to guarantee the prize money for the races. The prize money was to have amounted to £75.000 —said to be the largest sum ever proposed for such an event.
