AUCKLAND WOOL SALE

Fleeces Firm On Recent Rates GOOD COMPETITION (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 7. The fifth and final Auckland wool sale of the 1955-56 season was held today at the Auckland Town Hall, when 26.200 bales of greasy wool and 151 bales of scoured wool were submitted to auction, says the Auckland Woolbrokers Association's report issued in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission. There was practically a total clearance at auction. The qffering was a most unattractive one,- due largely to seasonal conditions. There was a large offering of second shear wool and this together with lambs’ wool comprised over 60 per cent, of the catalogues. The small proportion of fleece wool offered commanded relatively good prices. All wools attracted good competition. There was a full and representative bench of buyers with the Continent and Bradford both operating. Compared with the close of the auction in the south, fleece wool can be quoted as very firm to sellers’ favour with skirtings 2£ per cent, dearer. Lambs’ wool was irregular and slightly easier.
