INTER-ISLAND MATCH
SOUTH ISLAND TEAM SELECTED The South Island Rugby League selectors (Messrs T. F. McKenzie and K. Andrews) have selected#the following team to represent the South Island against the North Island at Auckland next Saturday:— Full-back.—-P. Creedy (Canterbury), captain. Three-quarters.—E. Griffiths (Canterbury), W. Pascoe (West Coast), R. Griffiths (West Coast). Five-eighths. J. Lynch (West Coast), G, Menzies (West Coast). Half-back. —K. Roberts (Canterbury). Forwards. —J. Bond (Canterbury), J. Butterfield (Canterbury), F. Hassan (West Coast), F. Mulcare (West Coast) T. Kilkelly (Canterbury), R. Turton (Canterbury). Reserves. —Backs: R. Clarke (Canterbury), A. Green (West Coast). Forwards: J. Rossiter (Canterbury), C. Clarke (West Coast). The omission of R. Clarke as halfback is the only real surprise. The selectors have evidently preferred to keep the West Coast combination among the five-eighths together, and in making their selection must have taken into consideration Roberts’s play as a half-back with the Kiwis in England. Clarke has shown outstanding form this year. Roberts, although a capable half-back, is far more valuable as a five-eighths. NORTHERN TEAM CHOSEN (New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 6.
