OBITUARY
DR. E. E. BAILEY (New Zealand Press. Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. The death has occurred in London of Dr. Ernest Edmond Bailey, a New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, and since 1947 principal finance officer of the British Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. He was 49. Dr. Bailey was educated at Sacred Heart College, Auckland, and Auckland University College, where he gained the degree of LL.M, and was a senior scholar. He went to Magdalen College, Oxford, where he obtained the degree of D.Phil. He was a barrister and solictor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand and a barrister of the Middle Temple. London. During the Second World War, he was Deputy Director-General, Middle East Supply Centre, Cairo, and was later Director-General of the centre. After the war, he joined the Ministry of Agriculture. He is survived by bis widow and four children.
