PROBATIONAL WINS STEEPLES (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, May 6. Salhia won the May Handicap at the Woodville Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday. The winner was always well j placed and ran on too well for Isisford | in the straight. The top-weight, John Gilpin, won the Telegraph Handicap, finishing brilliantly on the outer to beat Kiatoa, Windy Range and the favourite, Summersette. The double, Salhia-John Gilpin paid £525 9s for £l. The racing was held in fine weather, and the track was in good order. In the first furlong of the Maharahara Handicap, Gundar Haegg (W. Aitken) received a cheek through being crowded between Niggle (A. Skipper) on the outside and Greenwood (B. Wood). The apprentice jockey, A.
